Every label we carry sizes its pieces by its own chart, and Indian labels often run a little smaller than the US or UK size of the same name. Where a listing includes the brand's size chart, it is one of the product photos; measure a piece you already love and compare it with the chart, not your usual letter size.
Bust: around the fullest part, tape level. Waist: around the narrowest part. Hips: around the fullest part with your feet together. For kurtas and dresses, also check the length on the chart against your height, because Indian kurta lengths vary a great deal from label to label.
Sarees and most dupattas are free size. Dress material and unstitched suits come as fabric for a tailor, and a saree's blouse piece is usually unstitched unless the listing says otherwise. Lehengas often come with a semi-stitched blouse that a tailor finishes to your measurements.
